Following a first place finish in Bishop Neumann’s tournament in which the Antlers won every set they played, the EHS Volleyball team powered through a thrilling game to win their home opener against rival school Elkhorn South 3-1.
Senior leadership played a huge role in the game. After graduating only one player last year, the Antlers start the season with enormous expectations and confidence in the senior corps. The Eastern Midlands Conference will provide a difficult schedule for EHS, with powerhouses Omaha Skutt Catholic and Elkhorn South in the regular season schedule.
Elkhorn South found themselves ahead 24-21 towards the conclusion of set one. However, the Antlers rallied five consecutive points to take the first 26-24. The second set proved a tough matchup too, as EHS won 25-22. The third took significantly more time than all others, resulting in a 27-25 set to the Storm. EHS still lead two sets to one heading to the fourth. The Antlers stepped up their game to trounce Elkhorn South 25-19 and claim the match 3-1.
