Softball team picks up a pair of wins

The Elkhorn softball team has been on a roll lately.

An ace performance by Laura Roecker led the Antlers to a 5 – 1 win in seven innings over Waverly Tuesday on the road. Roecker dominated the Vikings, striking out 13 batters; she allowed no runs, three hits and no walks.

Kristin Lange went a perfect 3-3 at the plate for Antlers. She singled in the first, third, and fifth innings. The Antlers stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the first, scoring two runs on a passed ball and.In the fifth inning, Waverly pushed across its only run of the day on a groundout.

Elkhorn takes out Omaha Central 5-3. Lange drove in three runs, helping the Antlers to a 5-3 victory over Omaha Central. Roecker was a workhorse on the mound for Elkhorn. She pitched six innings and allowed no earned runs, six hits and two walks while striking out four.

Central had the lead early, but couldn’t hold off the Antlers. Omaha Central was ahead until the fourth inning, but Elkhorn would not be denied the win, taking the lead back on a three-run home run by Lange.
